NUNM’s Helfgott Research Institute has earned international acclaim for its outstanding evidence-based research in natural medicine. Helfgott researchers, who have been awarded a number of NIH-funded study grants, specialize in clinical trials and are trained in natural and integrative medicine research design. Studies have included acupuncture, pain management, cancer, diabetes, gastrointestinal projects, herbal medicine, nutrition, mind-body medicine and more. Helfgott features state-of-the-art basic science labs and institutional resources for students learning to conduct rigorous, high-quality clinical research. At Helfgott, we believe in collaborative research and make every effort to include conventional biomedical and other complementary and alternative medicine institutions in our projects. Northwest Commission of Colleges & Universities

NUNM is accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) for its Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, and by the Accreditation Council on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) for its Master of Science in Oriental Medicine program. NUNM is accredited at both the masters and naturopathic doctoral degree levels with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The NWCCU is one of six U.S. regional accrediting bodies recognized by the Secretary of Education.

NUNM’s MSOM and MAc programs are programmatically accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. ACAOM is a specialized accrediting agency for the approval of programs preparing acupuncture and Oriental medicine practitioners.
